The Importance Of Air Compressor Oil Separator Filters

What Is Air Compressor Oil Separator Filter Element

The air compressor oil separator filter plays a crucial role in the operation of the air compressor system. These filters are designed to separate oil from compressed air, ensuring that only clean, oil-free air is released into the system. This is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and service life of air compressors.

Working Principle

  • Primary separation: The compressed air output by the air compressor carries small and large oil droplets into the oil and gas separation tank, and the large oil droplets naturally settle and separate due to gravity

  • Fine filtration: When suspended oil particles with a diameter less than 1 μ m pass through fiberglass filter materials, they are intercepted by diffusion and inertial collision, gradually condensing into large oil droplets

  • Recycling: The oil droplets formed by polymerization settle along the filter layer to the bottom, and are returned to the lubrication system through the return pipe for recycling, ultimately outputting clean compressed air.

Struction Features

  • Filter material selection: Using glass fiber layers with specific diameters and thicknesses directly affects filtration accuracy and airflow resistance
  • Differential pressure control: Accumulation of solid particles in the filter material can cause an increase in differential pressure, and the replacement cycle needs to be determined through differential pressure monitoring.

Maintenance Requirements

  • The built-in filter element is usually integrated with the oil and gas separation tank, while the external type requires independent installation. The specific type is configured according to the air compressor model
  • The replacement cycle of the filter element is related to the strength of the air compressor. Delaying the replacement may increase energy consumption by 15% -20% and shorten the service life of the equipment
